The University of Cincinnati (UC)

  • A public research institution with an enrollment of 44,000+ 
  • Has the second oldest aerospace engineering department in the U.S. 
  • Offers bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering and a curriculum in engineering mechanics 
  • Ranked among the Top 30 aerospace graduate programs by the National Research Council  
  • Offers students in the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning the ability to create “to size” auto parts in a Rapid Prototyping Center, the first program of its kind in the nation  

The University of Dayton

  • A private Roman Catholic national research university with an enrollment of more than 11,000 undergraduate and post-graduate students 
  • Offers approximately 400 majors for undergraduate engineering students as well as several master’s and doctoral programs in aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering  

Wright State University

  • A public research university with an enrollment of more than 12,000 students 
  • Has the longest-running civilian training program for physicians specializing in aerospace medicine 
  • Serves as a research hub for aerospace research laboratories  

Xavier University

  • A Jesuit Catholic university with nearly 7,000 students 
  • Ranked sixth best Midwest university and sixth best college for veterans  
  • Offers undergraduate degrees with majors in applied chemistry, chemical science and chemistry  

Community and technical colleges 

Butler Tech

  • One of Ohio’s largest career-technical schools 
  • Offers an advanced manufacturing technology program that combines cutting-edge production processes with industrial maintenance training 

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College  

  • A public, two-year college with more than 9,600 students  
  • Provides student-focused, accessible, quality technical and general education, academic transfer, experiential and cooperative education, and workforce development 
  • Offers certificates and degrees in aviation maintenance, technology, including airframe, power plants, avionics, flight technician and a chemical technology program 

Gateway Community and Technical College

  • One of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation with a student enrollment of more than 4,100 
  • Offers certificates, diplomas and associate degrees in automotive technology, diesel technology, industrial maintenance technology, manufacturing engineering technology and welding technology  

Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development   

  • One of the largest career and technical education districts in the United States 
  • Provides career development, workforce development and economic development services to individuals, business, industry, communities and other organizations 
  • Offers training and credentials for automotive technology and aviation maintenance 

Sinclair Community College

  • An urban community college with an enrollment of more than 1,000 students 
  • Ranked as one of the top community colleges in the United States 
  • Offers associate degrees in aviation technology, including airframe aviation maintenance, general aviation maintenance, power plant aviation maintenance and unmanned aerial systems; also offers a chemical technology program
