Colleges and universities 

Greater Cincinnati has nearly 30 colleges and universities within 100 miles that offer IT-related and business analytics programs. The next generation of IT talent is being groomed through several STEM initiatives, internships and co-op work programs through numerous organizations and our higher educational institutions. 

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College

  • A public, two-year college with an enrollment of more than 9,000 students  
  • Provides student-focused, quality technical and general education, academic transfer, experiential and cooperative education, and workforce development 
  • Enrolls 900+ students in nine IT majors, including information services and support, multimedia information design, network systems, and programming and software development

Gateway Community College

  • One of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation with an enrollment of more than 4,800 students  
  • Offers programs in computer and information technologies

Miami University

  • A public university with more than 23,000 students 
  • Recognized as one of America’s best colleges in the Princeton Review (2016) 
  • Offers traditional management information systems as well as software engineering and computer science programs 
  • The Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies is a trans-disciplinary program that examines how digital media is disrupting traditional disciplines 

Northern Kentucky University

  • A metropolitan university with an enrollment of nearly 16,000 students 
  • The College of Informatics is nationally recognized and houses the business informatics communication and computer science departments 
  • Offers bachelor and master degree programs in business informatics, computer science and communication 
  • Allows regional businesses to engage in a managed project with the college's Center for Applied Informatics

Sinclair Community College

  • An urban community college with an enrollment of 21,000+ students  
  • Offers programs in advanced technical intelligence, associate of technical studies, business information systems, business operation system support, computer engineering, computer information systems, computer numerical control technology, cyber investigation and computer forensics, digital systems, and engineering technology design  

The University of Cincinnati (UC)

  • A public research institution with more than 44,000 students enrolled at campuses in Cincinnati, Blue Ash and Clermont County 
  • Earned a Top 10 ranking for MBA programs with the greatest financial value upon graduation (U.S. News, 2014) 
  • Places more than 3,000 computer science, information technology and information systems students in co-op jobs annually 
  • Offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate majors and programs in computers and technology 

Xavier University

  • A Jesuit Catholic university with nearly 7,000 students 
  • Ranked sixth best Midwest university and sixth best college for veterans.  
  • Offers undergraduate degrees in computer science, information systems and information technology

The Cincinnati USA IT Higher Ed Collaborative - A collaborative effort of REDI Cincinnati, Partners for A Competitive Workforce, the Cincinnati CIO Roundtable, the INTERalliance of Greater Cincinnati and several of our areas top colleges and universities that is fully committed to helping students pursue successful careers in information technology.

Cincinnati STEM Partnership - Led by the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Public Schools, this partnership is a collaborative effort of K-12, business, community and higher education partners who are focused on enhancing science, technology, engineering and mathematics opportunities for all students in Southwest Ohio.

Partners for a Competitive Workforce – A partnership focused on meeting employer demand by growing the skills of the region’s current and future workforce.
