CINCINNATI – June 26, 2017 – A national leader in customer segmentation and analytics is growing its roster of professionals in the Cincinnati region with support from state and local economic development incentives.

REDI Cincinnati, the region’s leading economic development initiative, is pleased to announce that Claritas LLC is expanding in Cincinnati and has received approval from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority Board for its investment in the region.

“Greater Cincinnati has always been known for consumer insights thanks to our large community of retail marketing and consumer-packaged goods professionals,” said Kimm Coyner, vice president, business development and project management for REDI Cincinnati. “Claritas is a fantastic addition to this mix because it will be able to build on our region’s strengths with data analytics and insights that will enhance the overall community.”

Claritas is focused on consumer segmentation insights. It provides marketers with a comprehensive view into consumer behavior patterns through proprietary segmentation analysis powered by broad access to data sources. Claritas’ segmentation methodology and core product, PRIZM® Premier segmentation, is relied upon by marketers, academics, media organizations and other marketing data providers to develop more efficient, effective marketing campaigns online and offline. The company has over 1000 clients that use its services.

A former division of Nielsen, Claritas is now independently owned by the global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG), in partnership with the Indian Hill Group. The Indian Hill Group is a small team led by Mike Nazzaro and comprised of former executives of several successful marketing information companies. They completed the acquisition of Claritas from Nielsen at the beginning of 2017.

“We are extremely grateful for REDI Cincinnati’s support and we look forward to bringing promising new employment opportunities to a region that is ripe for growth, and in an area of business—customer segmentation and analytics—that is in high demand across the country,” said Mike Nazzaro, new CEO of Claritas. “Cincinnati can become a very important market for our future growth”.

The approved project includes:

  • Claritas LLC: This industry-leading consumer lifestyle segmentation provider supplies marketers with rich consumer behavioral information including shopping, financial and technology preference, media habits and more for more efficient, effective marketing across all channels.

Greater Cincinnati named competitive region
Greater Cincinnati earned an impressive distinction in November. Site Selection magazine released their annual “Top Competitive Cities in the World” report, ranking the Greater Cincinnati metro region as a top five most competitive city in North America for Aerospace (No. 2), Chemicals & Plastics (No. 4), Food & Beverage (No. 2), Transportation (No. 5) and Metals (No. 5).

“It’s exciting to see the MSA of Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana getting noticed,” said Johnna Reeder, president & CEO of REDI Cincinnati. “We have an incredible diversity of businesses and expertise within our region and rankings like this spotlight our capabilities. Everyone is working together to make Greater Cincinnati top of mind – both public and private leaders are committed to growing our economy.”

This is the latest accolade Greater Cincinnati earned. Earlier this year, Cincinnati was named the fastest-growing economy in the Midwest, Forbes called the region a “hotbed for entrepreneurial growth,” and Fortune said it has one of the Top 5 up and coming downtowns.

Greater Cincinnati is letting the world know it’s open for business – and it looks like the world is starting to listen.

REDI’s year-to-date numbers closed in on 12,000 total jobs and $362M in capital investments through August of this year; new job creation totals through August 31, 2015 reached 5,779, near doubling 2014’s new job creation numbers of 2,972 during the same time frame.

Regarding the increase in 2015 wins versus last year, Reeder said, “We’re proud accomplishments so far this year with the help of our partners, but complacent is not in our vocabulary. We’ll continue to find ways to be strategic, targeted and effective. While we’re seeing success, there’s always more opportunities and sites that need to be developed for us to be a competitive region.”

CINCINNATI— July 27, 2015 — REDI Cincinnati, the region’s leading economic development initiative, today announced the advancement of four projects that have the potential to create or retain a total of 1,744 jobs in Greater Cincinnati and generate over $14M in capital investments, surpassing more than 11,000 total jobs and $360M in capital investments so far in 2015.

The announcement follows the Ohio Tax Credit Authority’s (TCA) review and approval today of economic development assistance proposals for Barclays Services, LLC, DownTime Reduction Inc., Hydrotech, Inc., and Process Plus Holdings, Inc., after being presented to the TCA Board by JobsOhio and REDI Cincinnati. The commitment would translate to the creation of 1,551 new jobs, and retain 193 current positions.

“REDI Cincinnati, regional and state partners have been working diligently and cohesively to generate opportunities from strategic business development and retention efforts,” said Kimm Coyner, Managing Director of Projects & JobsOhio for REDI Cincinnati. “New jobs and capital investment commitments don’t happen overnight. The success we’re seeing this year is a culmination of persistence and momentum, and showing companies we as a region are committed to a thriving business ecosystem and bringing the right resources to the table to meet their needs. There’s always more work to be done but the numbers are showing we’re moving the needle in the right direction.”

Today’s approved projects:

  • Barclays Services, LLC, a division of Barclays, issues Visa and MasterCard credit cards, in addition to co-branded credit cards through partnerships with some 60
companies and institutions. The company is currently seeing tremendous growth and is looking to expand call center functions in Southwest Ohio resulting in significant job creation.

  • Process Plus Holdings, LLC is focusing on the automation business which dovetails with their current engineering and design services. They are planning to hire new talent to focus on this business segment. If the project moves forward in Ohio, they will need to upgrade their current facility or move to a new leased location.

REDI Cincinnati to Host Site Selectors, Showcasing Region During ACCE Convention August 12-15
‘Red carpet’ job creation efforts in group’s host city come on heels of successful Cincy in NYC campaign

CINCINNATI---REDI Cincinnati, the region’s leading economic development initiative, will host seven influential site selectors from across the country for events displaying the many attributes Greater Cincinnati possesses for locating a business here. The events will be in conjunction with the upcoming ACCE (American Chamber of Commerce Executives) Convention in Cincinnati August 12-15 with more than 1,000 leading chamber of commerce executives from across the United States and world.
Site selectors work for companies looking to relocate by scouting out real estate locations, business environments, and livability factors. All seven have agreed to spend three days with top-level local business leaders, community leaders, and the REDI team.
Events will include:
• Reception atop Great American Tower showcasing a picture perfect view of region, banks of the Ohio River
• A culinary explosion at Boca prepared by chef David Faulk, joined by select CEO leaders and REDI team
• “Breakfast of Champions” at Great American Ball Park featuring exclusive batting practice opportunity
• A tour of revitalized Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky neighborhoods including The Banks, Uptown medical district, Over-the-Rhine, Covington, and Newport
• Participating in panel discussions at ACCE Convention
• Attending Western & Southern Open tennis tournament
• Experiencing a virtual “Disney-like” tour of the future Kenwood Collection, discussion of the retail segment of our region
• Networking event at Horseshoe Casino with regional business and economic development officials
• Tour of regional corporate business campuses and local infrastructure

The events are REDI Cincinnati’s most recent direct efforts appealing to the site selection community. In early May, REDI leaders met with site selectors in New York City as part of Greater Cincinnati’s successful Cincy in NYC roadshow campaign. Several job creation leads were developed for the region from Cincy in NYC, but this campaign will be unique, and even more impactful.
“What make this opportunity so potentially rewarding is that we won’t be competing for their attention with other cities, for three days these site selectors will literally be eating, sleeping, and breathing all things Cincinnati,” said Johnna Reeder, President & CEO, REDI Cincinnati. “With favorable local and states tax structures, lower energy costs, and prime locations in areas that are ready to embrace new investment, we feel that our story will resonate very well with this decision-making group,” Reeder added.
The convention will be a homecoming for ACCE. ACCE was founded in 1914 in Cincinnati by the merger of two separate regional chamber associations, and will returning to their founding city for their 100th meeting. In addition to the 100th anniversary for the convention, 2014 is also the 175th anniversary for the hosts, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.

Tax Credits Approved for Butler County Companies, Could Mean 700+ Jobs, $28M+ Investment
Third expansion at ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America would create 214 new jobs, retain 381 others at Hamilton, OH facility

CINCINNATI—July 28, 2014— REDI Cincinnati, the region’s leading economic development initiative, today announced the advancement of two projects that have the potential to create or retain a total of 706 jobs in Greater Cincinnati and generate $28M in capital investments.
The announcement follows the Ohio Tax Credit Authority’s review and approval today of an economic development assistance proposal for ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America, an operative unit in the ThyssenKrupp Components Technology business area, that was presented to the TCA Board by JobsOhio and REDI Cincinnati. The commitment would translate to the creation of 214 new jobs, 381 retained jobs and more than $26M in capital investment.

“ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America is one of the best examples of a successful high-tech manufacturing company in the entire state of Ohio, and their sustained growth proves that,” said Johnna Reeder, President & CEO, REDI Cincinnati. “Recently Greater Cincinnati was ranked by KPMG as having the most favorable tax structure for businesses in the United States, and companies are discovering that because of factors like these, there isn’t even a need to look elsewhere. This is ‘the’ place to do business,” Reeder added.

ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America, Inc. is an operative unit in ThyssenKrupp’s business area of Components Technology. Components Technology manufactures components for the auto, construction and wind energy sectors and had sales of 5.7 billion euros in the 2012/2013 with approximately 27,700 employees. Components Technology supplies a range of high-tech components for general engineering, construction equipment and wind turbines and holds leading positions in their respective markets. In the auto sector its activities are focused on crankshafts, camshafts, steering systems, dampers, springs, stabilizers and the assembly of axle modules.

The expansion announced today will grow their manufacturing capacity by 60,000 square feet. From 2011-2013, ThyssenKrupp Bilstein expanded their operations twice, creating 160 additional new jobs.

“With a talented workforce and pro-business partners on the local, regional and state level, we continue to find exactly what we need right here to continue our growth,” said Fabian Schmahl, President & CEO, ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America. In addition to the assistance of REDI Cincinnati, Schmahl lauded the work of JobsOhio and the City of Hamilton to get the deal done.

“ThyssenKrupp Bilstein is an outstanding high-tech manufacturer, and we are excited that the company chose Ohio for its expansion,” said JobsOhio President and Chief Investment Officer John Minor. "The strong relationship that JobsOhio and REDI Cincinnati have with the company’s executives, combined with Ohio’s attractive business environment, were key advantages to attracting these jobs."

“ThyssenKrupp Bilstein is exactly the type of company we want growing in Hamilton,” said Joshua A. Smith, City Manager of Hamilton. “Since 2010, they have steadily added jobs and capital improvements to their facilities, and as Hamilton transitions from a basic to an advanced manufacturing community, their presence provides us instant credibility while recruiting similar companies.”

Additionally approved by the Board today was an expansion project for Sugar Creek Packing Company. The company will consolidate the majority of its corporate staff into one facility located in West Chester, and designate the facility the company's new headquarters. The commitment would mean 58 new jobs created, 53 more retained, and $2M in capital investment.

REDI Cincinnati Assists Italian Company with Cincinnati Expansion, $9M in Capital Investment

Second example of foreign direct investment in region in as many weeks, will create 39 jobs, retain 100 others

CINCINNATI—April 9, 2014—REDI Cincinnati, the region’s leading economic development initiative, today announced the advancement of an expansion project for Eurostampa North America Incorporated. The deal will either create or retain 140 jobs at the project site located at 1440 Seymour Avenue, Cincinnati. The project, approved yesterday by the JobsOhio Independent Review Panel, will see capital investment in our region of more than $9M.

Headquartered in Italy, Eurostampa provides high quality labels for premium spirits, wine, chocolate, food, beer and water. Eurostampa entered the U.S. market in 2007 and is now focusing on the wine label market. As a result, they were in need of expanding their facility in order to accommodate additional business.

Specifically REDI Cincinnati, as a JobsOhio network partner, assisted the company in acquiring project financing through JobsOhio to assist in their physical expansion and to provide additional training for Eurostampa’s workforce.

The assistance of REDI Cincinnati on the project is the second time in two weeks that foreign owned companies have made considerable investments in Cincinnati USA.

Octal Extrusions, Inc., headquartered in the country of Oman, announced on March 31 that they are locating their first manufacturing center in the United States in West Chester Township, with REDI’s assistance. That project will see 52 new jobs created, $1.6M in new payroll created, and capital investment of $10M.

"While it’s always terrific to gain further investments in Cincinnati USA, to do so from foreign companies as consistently as we are now is particularly rewarding,” said Matt Davis, Interim Executive Director of REDI Cincinnati. “Foreign companies like Eurostampa want to see a collaborative, disciplined and well-thought out effort, and that’s exactly what our partners at JobsOhio and REDI did in getting this project delivered," he added.

REDI Cincinnati was able to close the Eurostampa deal with the partnership of Jobs Ohio, the City of Cincinnati, and the Port of Greater Cincinnati.

Eurostampa becomes the 11th company assisted by REDI Cincinnati in 2014:

  • Eurostampa North America Incorporated
  • Octal Extrusions, Inc.
  • Fecon, Inc.
  • WHAPPS, LLC.
  • A&P Technology
  • L-3 Fuzing & Ordnance Systems

EDI Cincinnati Announces Johnna Reeder as President & CEO

Current OH-KY Duke Energy economic development leader to lead region’s premier job creation team

CINCINNATI—April 3, 2014—REDI Cincinnati, LLC, the region’s leading economic development initiative, has named Johnna Reeder as the organization’s President & CEO effective May 5.

Reeder, a resident of Fort Mitchell, KY, will be relinquishing her current role as Vice President of Community Relations, Local Government Affairs and Economic Development for Duke Energy, Ohio and Kentucky Region. In her new position, Reeder will oversee REDI in leading efforts to attract and grow businesses and jobs in the region.

Unveiled last month, REDI (Regional Economic Development Initiative) Cincinnati evolved from the Cincinnati USA Partnership for Economic Development and features both top-level CEO involvement and collaboration with public and private investors to spur economic development growth in the greater Cincinnati region.

"I am excited to take the helm at the newly energized REDI and look forward to continued collaboration with its key stakeholders and investors to grow jobs and investment in our region," said Reeder.

Reeder will manage a staff of 12 economic development professionals and execute a cluster focused strategy that in 2013 helped create and retain 16,000 jobs, representing $571M in capital investment in the region.

"This role is vital for continuing the growth that our region is experiencing and Johnna’s ability to build alliances and extensive knowledge of economic development made her the ideal candidate," said Tom Williams, Board and Executive Committee Chairman of REDI Cincinnati. "It’s rare to find someone that has the leadership and experience that this role demands, in addition to a deep level of commitment to our area," Williams added.

Reeder will replace Matt Davis, who served as Interim Executive Director for both the Cincinnati USA Partnership and REDI Cincinnati since early September. Davis will remain in his current role until Reeder begins, and then will take another position with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.

"Matt has been an excellent steward for REDI and his results have been outstanding, and we look forward to him continuing to be a leader for our region in his new role with the Chamber," said Brian Carley, President & CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.

Before serving Duke Energy in her current capacity, Reeder served the company as Senior Communications and External Affairs Manager. Additionally, she was employed by The Kroger Company, Citi, and The United Way in various capacities including government relations, public affairs and foundation management. She currently serves on several community boards including: the Executive Board of Cincinnati Regional Business Committee (CRBC), Economic Development Committee of Cincinnati Business Committee (CBC), the Board of Directors for Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corporation along with the Boards of Directors for the United Way, Cincinnati Museum Center and Source Cincinnati. She was a member of the Board of Advisors for Cincinnati USA Partnership for Economic Development, the predecessor to REDI Cincinnati. WHAPPS, LLC. builds loyalty marketing programs for Fortune ® 1000 companies. The project will allow an expansion at their current site in Cincinnati.

"These projects demonstrate that while our economic development efforts might benefitCincinnati USA, our focus goes well beyond just our region," said Matt Davis, interim executive director of REDI Cincinnati. "To have a company like Octal Extrusions, who could have invested anywhere in the United States, choose our region is proof positive of the continued momentum that we have not just nationally, but globally," Davis added.

REDI Cincinnati often travels internationally in their economic attraction efforts. This year that travel schedule includes Germany, Japan, France, United Kingdom, India and Israel.

REDI Cincinnati was able to close these deals with the partnership of JobsOhio, the state’s private, nonprofit organization that promotes job creation and economic development. Today’s announcement continues an impressive run for the region’s economic development efforts. Just last week, Cincinnati was rated second in a ranking of the most cost-friendly business locations among U.S. cities, following Atlanta, according to KPMG. Earlier this year, Cincinnati USA was ranked sixth by Site Selection Magazine in the number of new and expanded facilities among top metros with a population of more than 1M. Last year, the region was eighth in the same Governor’s Cup ranking.

Cincinnati Lands Prestigious KPMG Ranking, Rated Among Top Cost-Friendly Business Locations

CINCINNATI—March 28, 2014—REDI Cincinnati, the regional economic development initiative directed by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, is pleased to announce thatCincinnati has been ranked second in a list of the most cost-friendly business locations among U.S. cities, narrowly following Atlanta. That ranking is according to KPMG, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory services firm.

KPMG’s Competitive Alternatives study, which reflects an in-depth multi-year analysis, serves as a useful benchmark for cities and provides helpful insight for companies considering sites for their business operations. By comparing cities on a number of significant factors that contribute to business operating costs, including labor, taxes, real estate and utilities, companies can determine which markets offer the most advantageous business environment for their business.

In 2012, Cincinnati was ranked first in the biennial study. Along with the slim difference in position between Cincinnati and Atlanta and the fact that both cities improved in their respective cost index, Matt Davis, REDI Cincinnati’s Interim Executive Director, noted the consistency in which Cincinnati remains an ideal place to operate a business.

"Cincinnati continues to have the lowest overall facility costs among the 31 large cities and boasts the lowest property tax costs, and given how close we were, there is certainly nothing wrong being ranked second on a list as prestigious as this," Davis said. "Over the course of the last two studies, we have been ranked first and second on this list, that’s not just momentum, that is sustained momentum," Davis added.
